Did you know there is an official Potawatomi flower? We call this particular flower ‘wabgon’ which is also known as the Trailing Arbutus. It is important to us because of an old story. In the story a young girl named Mnokmé (Spring time) challenged an old man known as Pondésé (winter maker) to ensure that we would have Spring & Summer again. Everywhere she has been is where & only where this flower grows, & it is the first flower of Spring.
