Dr. Blaire Morseau, "As Sacred to Us: Simon Pokagon's Birch Bark Stories in Their Contexts"

On October 30, 2024, Dr. Blaire Morseau, spoke as part of the Clarke Historical Library's Speaker series. She discussed her new edited volume about 19th-century Potawatomi author Simon Pokagon and the ways he elevated thousands of years of Indigenous knowledge in his stories. Dr. Morseau is a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi with ancestral ties to the Grand River Bands of Ottawa, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Michigan State University.
